The Faroe Islands use the Danish Krone (DKK). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, even in smaller villages. ATMs are available in Tórshavn and other larger towns.

May through September offers the longest daylight hours, milder temperatures (around 7–13 °C) and the best conditions for hiking and outdoor activities. June and July are peak season with near-24-hour daylight.
Yes! The Faroe Islands sit at 62°N latitude, making them an excellent spot for aurora viewing. The best chances are from November to February on clear, dark nights away from town lights.
The islands are famous for Atlantic puffins (best seen May–August on Mykines), as well as large colonies of guillemots, fulmars and kittiwakes. On land you'll find the iconic Faroese sheep — roughly 80,000 of them, outnumbering the human population.
Layer up with waterproof and windproof outer layers — the weather changes quickly. Bring sturdy hiking boots, a warm hat, gloves and a good rain jacket. Even in summer, temperatures rarely exceed 15 °C and rain can arrive without warning.
