Booking
Yes. You can book tickets for other passengers. Just make sure that the passenger's name is spelt correctly and matches their ID document/passport.
Your booking number appears on screen after you book a flight and in the confirmation email you receive. A booking number consists of six letters and numbers and is unique to your booking, for example A1B3D4. You use it with the passenger's surname to access My booking and to check in online or at self-service check-in at the airport.
Please check your spam folder first to see whether the confirmation ended up there.
If necessary, enter your booking number and surname under “My booking” on the homepage to request a new booking confirmation.
You can also call our Customer Service on +298 34 10 00 or email [email protected] to request that we resend the confirmation.
If you bought the ticket from Atlantic Airways, use “My booking” on the website or contact Customer Service. If you bought the ticket through a travel agency or another provider, you must contact them. The change fee and any fare difference depend on the ticket terms & conditions.
The conditions for changing a name and for correcting a name vary according to the ticket type. If the name is wrong, contact our Customer Service.
Yes. You can cancel within 24 hours of purchase and receive a full refund, provided you do so at least three hours before departure.

Ticket changes are not covered by the 24-hour right of cancellation.
For changes, cancellations, and refunds, contact the travel agency or ticket provider. Atlantic Airways cannot always change a ticket sold by someone else.
The no-show conditions depend on the ticket type. For some ticket types, missing one flight can also affect later flights on the same ticket.

Atlantic Airways accepts VISA, Mastercard/Eurocard, American Express and debit cards such as Visa Electron and Mastercard Debit. You can also see available payment options when you buy your ticket online.
Please note: When purchasing tickets on atlantic.fo with a debit card, your bank will often reserve a corresponding amount in your account. Check with your bank which conditions apply to your card.
Children and infants receive the following ticket discounts.
Children under 12 with their own seat receive a 35% discount.
Infants under 2 without their own seat receive a 90% discount.

The total price shown on the website covers the required taxes and charges for the trip you have selected. Additional services are shown separately, but the total cost is visible.
Yes, you can choose a seat when you book a trip. Depending on the ticket type you choose, you may be charged a fee to select a seat.
Sveiggj youth tickets
Sveiggj tickets are available to young people under 26 and to Faroese full-time students who are 26 or older and receive a study grant or travel grant from Studna.

Yes. To book Sveiggj directly online you must create a Súlubonus account and complete the required approval process.
Passengers under 26 must show approved photo identification. Students 26 or older must also show valid study documentation and proof of the relevant grant.
Always bring valid identification documents with you on the trip.
Yes, under the applicable Sveiggj conditions. You can change the date, destination, and name for a possible fee and fare difference. The new passenger must also meet Sveiggj's conditions.
As a rule, Sveiggj tickets cannot be refunded after the 24-hour cancellation period, under the applicable ticket conditions.
Check-in and boarding
Online check-in opens 48 hours before departure.
Use check-in on the Atlantic Airways website or in the app. Enter the information requested and follow the steps to get your boarding pass.
Yes. Passengers who are able to check in online can do so in the Atlantic Airways app and use a mobile boarding pass where this is possible.
Arrive in good time and follow the recommended check-in times at your departure airport. Allow extra time if you are travelling with children, special luggage or an animal, or if you need special assistance.
Yes, at airports that support mobile boarding passes. You can also print your boarding pass or collect it at the airport where this is possible.
Online check-in is not available at all airports, or for all passengers or routes. If online check-in is not possible, you must check in at the airport within the applicable deadline.
Luggage
You may bring one piece of hand luggage weighing no more than 8 kg. Under the applicable conditions, you may also bring a laptop bag or a handbag. Your hand luggage must comply with the applicable dimensions and must be able to be stowed safely on board.
The checked luggage allowance depends on your ticket. Check your booking confirmation or the current ticket comparison to see what is included.
Standard checked luggage may weigh up to 23 kg. Heavier luggage is subject to other conditions and charges. One item of luggage may weigh a maximum of 32 kg. Luggage above the maximum permitted weight must be repacked or sent as special cargo where this applies.
Extra luggage can be purchased in accordance with the applicable luggage conditions. Check My booking or the luggage pages for prices and deadlines.
Pack your luggage well so that it can withstand normal luggage handling, and label it clearly with your name and contact details. You should keep valuables, travel documents, essential medication and fragile electronic equipment in your hand luggage where this is permitted.
Dangerous goods and certain batteries, gases, flammable substances, explosives, corrosive substances and other hazardous materials are prohibited or restricted. Check the guidance on dangerous goods before you pack.
Spare lithium batteries and power banks must be carried in your hand luggage.
They are not permitted in checked luggage.

Yes, many kinds of sports equipment can be carried, subject to packaging, size, weight and available space. Check the rules for the equipment you intend to bring.
Bicycles can be carried as special luggage in accordance with the applicable requirements for packaging, charges and available space. Check the guidance on special luggage before you travel.
Depending on their size and weight, musical instruments can be carried as hand luggage, as checked luggage or on an extra seat. Please contact Customer Service in advance if the instrument is a large one.
Ordinary hiking equipment can usually be carried in checked luggage. Fuel, gas canisters and other flammable substances are restricted or prohibited. Walking poles and sharp items must be in checked luggage and not in the cabin.
Drones can be carried in accordance with the luggage rules. Spare or loose lithium batteries must be carried in your hand luggage and comply with the applicable conditions.
The rules on importing and exporting food, plants, seeds and plant products vary from destination to destination. It is the passenger's responsibility to check customs, veterinary and plant health rules.
Yes. When you are travelling with a child, a pram or pushchair can be checked in free of charge. If it can be taken apart, you should protect the individual parts well during transport.
A child car seat can be checked in free of charge. If you wish to use the car seat on board for an infant, you must buy a child ticket with its own seat by contacting Customer Service in advance.
This depends on the route and on the airlines that are part of the journey. If your journey includes connecting flights, you must have it confirmed at check-in whether your luggage is tagged through to the final destination, or whether you have to collect it and check it in again.
Report delayed luggage here. Keep the reference number and follow the Atlantic Airways procedure for delayed luggage.
Atlantic Airways has obligations in respect of reasonable and necessary expenses when checked luggage is delayed. Keep your receipts and submit the required documentation within the applicable deadline.
Luggage that has not been found within 21 days is normally considered lost in accordance with the applicable luggage rules.
Report the damage as soon as possible and follow the Atlantic Airways procedure for damaged luggage. Keep the luggage, photographs, the PIR documentation and any relevant receipts until the case has been settled.
Contact the lost property office at the airport concerned and give a detailed description of the item, along with the flight number, date and seat number if you have them.
Children and families
Infants under two years of age must be registered on the adult's booking. An infant without a seat of its own travels under the conditions that apply to infants. If you wish to use a child car seat on board, you must buy a child ticket with a seat for the infant and contact Customer Service.
Yes. Atlantic Airways has an unaccompanied minor service for children aged 5–15 who travel without an adult companion.
Children may not travel alone if weather conditions or other special circumstances make it uncertain whether the aircraft will be able to land at the intended destination.
The service is required for children aged 5–11 who travel without a companion who is 16 or older. For children aged 12–15 the service is optional.
Contact Atlantic Airways in advance. The necessary details about the child and about the adults who drop off and collect the child must be provided before the trip.
The unaccompanied minor service is not required when a child aged 5–11 travels with someone who is 16 or older.
For children aged 12–16 who travel alone, some countries require written consent from a parent or guardian.
It is also worth bearing in mind that a child under 18 who is not of legal age may find themselves in a difficult situation if, for example, there is a delay. Under current rules, hotels are not permitted to sell a room to, or allow, a child under 18 to stay alone in a room.
Children may not travel alone if weather conditions or other special circumstances make it uncertain whether the aircraft will be able to land at the intended destination.
Necessary baby food and liquids may be covered by special exemptions at the security check. Follow the rules of the departure airport.
Special assistance and health matters
Book the assistance at the same time as the flight if possible, and no later than 48 hours before departure. If you book later than 48 hours before departure, Atlantic Airways will do its best to provide the assistance. Read more here.
Yes, in most cases. To travel without a companion, the passenger must be able to fasten and unfasten the seatbelt, put on a life vest and an oxygen mask, move from the seat towards an emergency exit and understand the safety briefing without help.
A companion may be required if the passenger does not themselves meet the safety requirements for travelling alone. The companion must be at least 18 years old and must sit next to the passenger. The companion is responsible for assisting the passenger.
Staff can help with moving around and getting through the airport, but they cannot lift passengers between the seat and a wheelchair, help with personal needs in the toilet, administer medication or feed passengers.
Yes. Atlantic Airways carries wheelchairs at no extra charge. Register the wheelchair and your assistance needs no later than 48 hours before departure, if possible.
Yes, but it must be booked in advance and must comply with the battery rules. Electric wheelchairs must be registered by contacting Atlantic Airways. Wheelchairs with acid or wet batteries must be sent as cargo.
Yes, provided it is booked in advance and meets the applicable safety requirements. Atlantic Airways allows passengers to bring their own oxygen at no extra charge, provided the cylinders meet the specified weight and safety requirements. Liquid oxygen is not permitted.
DPNA is an assistance service for passengers travelling alone who, because of a developmental disability and/or cognitive needs, require assistance from check-in to the aircraft and/or from the aircraft to the customs area. The service must be booked by telephone no later than 48 hours before departure.
Yes. Atlantic Airways takes part in the Sunflower scheme for invisible disabilities.
Atlantic Airways accepts approved assistance dogs in the cabin at no extra charge. Notify Atlantic Airways in advance and make sure that all documents and entry requirements at the destination are in order.
Atlantic Airways may refuse carriage if a passenger with an infectious illness is judged to be a direct risk to the health and safety of others. If clear symptoms are visible before departure, a medical certificate may be required.
Keep necessary medication in your hand luggage where this is permitted, and carry the relevant documents when they are needed – particularly for medication, liquids, syringes or equipment that may require further explanation at the security check.
Yes. Necessary mobility aids may be brought along on the trip. Depending on their size, they are stowed in the cabin or in the hold. If you need assistance at the airport, it is best to book it in advance.
It may be possible, but special precautions may be necessary, particularly if the cast is new, as swelling can occur during a flight. Ask your doctor if you are in any doubt.
Notify Atlantic Airways in advance if you are blind or have reduced vision, so that suitable assistance can be arranged. This may include help through the airport, help with boarding and making sure that important information is given in a suitable way.
Notify Atlantic Airways in advance if you are deaf or have reduced hearing, so that suitable assistance can be arranged and important flight and safety information can be communicated clearly.
Yes, you can travel with a CPAP device. If you are carrying necessary medical equipment, particularly equipment with a battery or with other special requirements, you should contact Atlantic Airways in advance. State the type, model, size, weight and battery type, so that it can be determined how the equipment may be carried and used.
Yes. Medically necessary medication and equipment such as insulin, syringes and an EpiPen may normally be brought with you. Keep it in your hand luggage where this is permitted, and carry a medical certificate or other relevant documents in case they are required at the security check.
You should not count on cold storage being available on board. If medication has to be kept cold, you must use a suitable cool bag or cooling element and check the security requirements at the airport before you travel.
Always keep any medication you need in your hand luggage, and contact Atlantic Airways in advance if you need special assistance. We cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment on board, as other passengers may bring food and other items with them.
Report it immediately at the arrival airport and have the case registered. Keep the report, photographs and any other documents, and contact Atlantic Airways so that the case can be dealt with as quickly as possible.
Travelling with animals
Atlantic Airways accepts dogs and cats subject to certain conditions. Animals can travel in the cabin or in the hold, depending on the route, the animal, the transport crate and the space available.
Yes. Transporting an animal must always be booked and approved before you travel. Please contact Customer Service.
In the Faroe Islands, passengers travelling with live animals must check in at least 1½ hours before departure. Abroad, it may be 2 hours before departure.
The passenger is responsible for all the necessary permits, health certificates and other travel documents for the animal. Check the requirements at your destination and in any transit country.
According to Atlantic Airways' current luggage information, live animals travelling to Great Britain must be sent as cargo. Contact us if you are unsure.
Special luggage
Yes, provided that Atlantic Airways is notified in advance and the applicable security requirements are followed. Sports weapons must be reported to the airline. Read more here.

No. Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes/vapes on board are not permitted. E-cigarettes are also covered by the rules on batteries and dangerous goods.
Duty Free
Yes. You can order and pay for goods directly on the Duty Free FAE website and collect them in the duty-free shop at Vágar Airport.
According to the current terms of purchase of Duty Free FAE, the order must be received no later than three hours before departure.

Delays, cancellations and passenger rights

Yes. Atlantic Airways can provide passengers with confirmation that a flight was delayed or cancelled. Read more here.
No. The confirmation is only proof of the delay or cancellation and not a claim for compensation.
In certain cases you may be entitled to compensation, depending on the route, the length of the delay and the cause. Atlantic Airways processes claims in accordance with the passenger rights that apply to the trip.
Not automatically. Atlantic Airways is a Faroese airline, and Vágar Airport is not an EU airport. The EU compensation rules therefore do not apply as a matter of course to Atlantic Airways departures from Vágar Airport. Read more here.

Weather can lead to delays, cancellations or diversions. Follow the information from Atlantic Airways and the airport. Rebooking and assistance depend on the circumstances and on the passenger rights that apply.
If the whole journey is bought on one connecting ticket, contact the airline handling the disruption for help with rebooking. Separate tickets are independent journeys, so allow plenty of connecting time and contact your travel insurance company if necessary.
If you are denied boarding without notice even though you have a valid booking and arrived on time, you may be entitled to alternative travel arrangements, a refund, assistance and, in certain cases, compensation. Súlubonus
Anyone can register, including children from the age of two. Each person may only have one Súlubonus membership. An email address can only be used for one profile, which means that children must be registered with their own email address.
Members earn points for completed, points-earning flights with Atlantic Airways. The number of points depends on the ticket and the route.
Add your Súlubonus number to the booking before departure. The points are given to the member who actually travels, regardless of who bought the ticket.
Yes. Atlantic Airways has a form for applying for retroactive registration of points for flights that have already been completed. Log in to your profile to apply.
Under the applicable Súlubonus terms, bonus points must be used within seven years from the day they are earned.
Under the applicable Súlubonus terms, points are personal and cannot be sold, inherited or combined with the points of another member.
Under the applicable Súlubonus terms, bonus tickets can be booked on all Atlantic Airways routes, subject to bonus seats being available.
Yes, under the applicable Súlubonus terms. The date, destination and name can be changed for a fee within the set deadline.

Group travel
Atlantic Airways counts bookings of 10 or more passengers travelling together as group travel.
Contact us, or fill in the group travel request form with your travel dates, route, number of passengers and contact details.
The applicable group terms include, among other things, more flexible payment and cancellation terms, free name changes within the set deadline, coordinated seat selection once the names have been received, checked luggage and Súlubonus points in accordance with the rules of the programme.
The group will be seated together where possible once the passenger names have been received.

Contact Customer Service and have the booking number and the passenger's name to hand. If the ticket was bought from a travel agency, you must contact the agency for changes and refunds.
Use the relevant Atlantic Airways contact page and give the booking number, flight number, date of travel and a clear description of the matter.
Please reply within the existing correspondence and keep the same case number, so that all correspondence is linked to the same case.
Website, app and personal data
No. An ordinary flight can be booked on the Atlantic Airways website. A Súlubonus account is, however, required for services that call for membership, such as earning/using Súlubonus points and obtaining Sveiggj youth ticket approval online.
Among other things, the app can be used to book flights and to check in.
Atlantic Airways processes the information needed to administer the booking and the trip, to meet statutory requirements and to provide the services you have requested. Further information is in the privacy policy.

Travel documents
Use the passport and visa page and the official links to the entry requirements for the destination. The requirements depend on nationality, destination and any transit journey.
Passengers are themselves responsible for having the passport, identity document, visa, permits and any other documents required for the entire journey.
Yes. Children must meet the travel document requirements that apply to their nationality, destination and route. In certain cases, consent or other supporting documents may also be required. Read more about travelling with children here.
General conditions
Depending on how many tickets are available on the selected date, you can book a maximum of 9 tickets at a time.
If you search for more tickets than there are seats available, the system will show “sold out” for the selected date. You can try searching for fewer tickets to find out whether there are seats left.
Yes, but if you upgrade a ticket (for example from LOW to FLEX+), the original conditions for refunds still apply. This means that only the amount you have paid extra to upgrade the ticket can be refunded.
Tickets can be bought up to 360 days before departure.
When you call or send an email to buy a ticket, a member of staff has to process the booking. We add a surcharge to the price for this service.
If the ticket is bought at a travel agency, a handling fee may be added. You can get more detailed information from the travel agency.
You do not need a printout of the confirmation at check-in, as you are already registered in our systems. We do recommend, however, that you write down the booking number, which you will need for online check-in, check-in at a self-service kiosk or check-in at the desk, among other things. It is a requirement that you have valid photo ID or a passport with you.
Please note: An air ticket is a personal document, and it can only be used by the person whose name is on the ticket. It is a requirement that you have valid photo ID or a passport with you, which must be shown on request. Atlantic Airways reserves the right to refuse passengers who cannot prove who they are, or whose name is not the same as the one on the identity document.
If you are travelling onward within the same twenty-four hours, this is possible in most cases. Ask at check-in, as the luggage conditions vary from airline to airline.
Extra luggage of up to 23 kg costs 249 DKK if purchased at least 3 hours before departure. Less than 3 hours before departure, it costs 349 DKK.

Yes, a passenger travelling with an infant must sit in a window seat from row 8 backwards, with the exception of the emergency exit.
