Prices & conditions
The Atlantic Airways scheduled helicopter service is subsidised by the Faroese authorities. The aim is to link the islands together and to give people on the outer islands a regular and flexible connection with the main region.
Below you will find an overview of the costs for cargo and tickets.
The price for the scheduled helicopter service changed on 1 September 2022. The cost of the journey is set according to where you have your residence.
To see the cost of the journey you want, you must first choose whether or not you have a registered address in the Faroe Islands.
Please note: To make sure that your name and address are correctly registered, you can log in to Vangin and check the population register administered by Umhvørisstovan.

You can book tickets for the helicopter HERE. Please note that on all routes you can book at the earliest seven days before departure, except on the Froðba route, where you can book two days before departure.

Discount
- Children aged 7 - 12 years pay 50% of the ticket price on the scheduled service.
- Children aged 2 - 6 years travel free of charge and get their own seat on the scheduled service.
- Children aged 0 - 23 months travel free of charge, but do NOT get a seat on the scheduled service.
- Pensioners pay 50% of the ticket price on the scheduled service.
- No discount is available on the round trips

Tickets for the helicopter must be booked HERE.
Please note: It is not possible to book a round trip with the helicopter on the scheduled service. Therefore you can only buy a ticket with departure on the same day.
The ticket is booked and paid for online. It is important that you arrive in good time, at least 30 min. before departure, so that the ground staff on the helipad have plenty of time for the preparation work before the helicopter leaves.
Tickets must be booked online no later than 30 minutes before the first departure of the day.
The booking can be made at the earliest seven days before departure.
However, bookings to and from Froðba and Skúvoy can be made two days before departure.
Round trips on Monday can be booked 90 days before departure.
You can change the booking up to 24 hours before departure. However, only the name and the date can be changed.
You can cancel the booking up to 24 hours before departure and thereby have the money refunded to your payment card.
You can make changes by logging in with a user name and password. Only people with a residence on an outer island can create a user. If you are not a registered user, you can use the booking number and surname.
It is important that you arrive 30 minutes before departure.
It is not possible to book a round trip with the helicopter on the scheduled service. Therefore you can only buy a ticket with departure on the same day.
You can bring a maximum of 20 kg of luggage on board.
It is not permitted to bring a pram into the helicopter.

Pets are only carried if they are in a basket or a box. See below.
Please note! Cancellations may occur owing to, among other things, weather and rescue operations. In such cases only the ticket is refunded, and otherwise no compensation is given in connection with any other expenses incurred by the passenger.
Passengers are themselves responsible for getting to the departure point at the appointed time. If you do not turn up on time, no compensation is paid for the missed trip.
Each passenger is allowed to bring 20 kg of luggage. Cargo must always be booked in advance via the website.
It is very important that you state what kind of luggage or cargo you are sending. You must state the number of items, the weight, the size and whether the cargo is difficult to handle. Everyone is asked to pack luggage/cargo in such a way that it does not cause soiling, as otherwise the crew may refuse to take it.
Smaller pets are only carried if they are in a basket/cage or a box/bag for transporting animals. The max. size of a dog crate is 51x48x68 cm. Passengers must bring the cage/transport bag themselves.
There are no rats on, among other places, Fugloy, Svínoy, Mykines, Koltur, Skúvoy and Stóra Dímun. Please make sure that you do not carry a rat out to these islands!
