Children travelling alone

Sometimes children need to travel alone.  Atlantic Airways therefore offers a service where we take care of the child throughout the journey.

This service is for children aged between 5 and 15. Children aged 5-11 must use the service; children aged 12-15 can choose to use it.

If your child is between 5 and 11 and is travelling with someone aged 16 or over, there is no need to book this service.

To ensure that the child has a confirmed seat, we recommend booking the planned journey well in advance, as the number of children who can travel alone on each flight is limited.

Where possible, we also recommend that children travelling alone travel during the daytime.

This service costs 350 kr each way.

If you have any questions, you are welcome to contact our Customer Service team.

You need to complete a handling document. It contains the child's personal details, itinerary, and the name and phone number of the person dropping off the child at departure and the person collecting the child on arrival, as well as the signature of a parent/guardian. It is possible to download and complete the handling document now.

NB! For departure from the Faroe Islands, the child must arrive at the airport 1½ hours before departure. For departures from airports abroad, the child must arrive at the airport 2 hours before departure.

You must help your child to check in their luggage at the airport. You must always show valid identification at check-in, regardless of the child's destination, and you must remain at the airport until the aircraft has taken off.

Our staff will then help your child through security, all the way to the aircraft, and look after them on board. Once the aircraft has landed, staff will accompany the child off the aircraft to collect their luggage and then through customs and passport control. The child will then be handed over to the person who has come to collect them (the person named on the handling document). To ensure that the child is collected by the correct person, that person must show valid identification.

In the event of delays or similar disruption, the child will be looked after with particular care. We will ensure that you, as the parent/guardian, are informed of all changes. The child will never be left unsupervised.

NB! If, at departure, there is uncertainty as to whether it will be possible to land at the destination, for example because of fog or poor weather, the child cannot travel alone.

We do not assist the child with purchases in the duty-free shop at departure or on arrival. Goods can instead be purchased and paid for in advance on the website of Duty Free FAE, so they are ready for collection when the child departs or arrives.
