If the amount of hand luggage is too large in relation to the space on board, we reserve the right to place some of the luggage in the hold of the aircraft. Extra luggage or hand luggage that is too large may be taken from passengers at check-in. It is weighed, labelled with the destination of that passenger and placed in the hold together with the rest of the luggage.
Please note: Always keep medicine in your hand luggage, so that you are not without it should something go wrong and your luggage be delayed. If it is special medication, for example injections, we recommend that you bring a medical certificate with you, as you may find that questions are raised about it when you go through security.
This is worth keeping in mind when you pack your hand luggage
- Containers, tubes, bottles, cans and the like may hold a maximum of 100 ml. each. In total you may carry one litre of liquid with you in your hand luggage.
- All the containers must be packed in one (and the same) 1 litre bag, which is transparent and can be opened and closed again.
- Liquids include e.g. gel, ointment, perfume, toothpaste, water, shampoo, shaving foam and so on. If you are in doubt, you can ask at the airport before departure.
- You are allowed to carry medicine with you where the containers are larger than 100 ml. each. We do, however, recommend that you bring a medical certificate confirming that you need the medicine.
- Food for infants is, like food required for medical reasons, also exempt from these rules.
- Duty-free goods may be taken into the cabin if they are sealed in a bag that must be requested from the Duty-free shop.
- Please note: Infant food/liquids, food required for medical reasons and medicine must all be packed in the same type of transparent bag as is normally used for packing liquids. Security staff may require you to prove that the contents of the bags are what you say they are.
These items are not permitted as hand luggage
- Sharp objects such as knives, scissors, corkscrews and tweezers
- Skates may be brought on flights from Helsinki, but there may be restrictions on flights from other places
- Matches and lighters are only permitted if the passenger carries them on their person, e.g. in a pocket, but not in hand luggage or checked luggage
- Lithium-ion batteries over 100 Wh (watt-hours)
- Lithium-metal batteries with more than 2 g of lithium
