Animal transport in the cargo hold

This type of transport is limited to two animals per departure. Two animals may travel in the same crate if the animals already know each other well. The maximum weight is 14 kg per animal if they are sent in the same crate. If they do not meet these requirements, the animals must be carried in separate crates. Animals (dogs and cats) carried in the hold must be at least 8 weeks old.

NB! The animal must stay in the crate from check-in until it is collected at the arrival airport.

Crates for animals in the hold: You must provide an IATA-approved transport crate for your pet yourself. Steel crates are not permitted. The crate must be made of durable material as well as being watertight and clean. The crate must be large enough for the animal to stand up, turn around and lie down in a natural position. We therefore advise passengers to secure the crate door with a cable tie before check-in, and likewise to check that the crate is not damaged. Crates that are damaged will be refused at check-in.

The maximum permitted dimensions of the crate are 150x90x90 cm (LxWxH). The 32 kilo weight limit does not apply when animals are carried in the hold. The owner’s mobile number must be shown on the crate in a place that is always visible.

NO WHEELS. If the crate has wheels, they must be removed or taped firmly in place so that the crate cannot roll back and forth.

Animals travelling in the hold count as one piece of luggage, and this costs DKK 399 for each animal.

Please note that if you are travelling with animals, this must be booked in advance and no later than 48 hours before departure. The transport must be booked where you bought your ticket. If you bought your ticket from Atlantic Airways, you can call us on tel. 34 10 00 or write to [email protected]
