Visit the farming couple on Stóra Dímun

Stóra Dímun is one of the most isolated islands in the Faroe Islands, and only one farming family lives there – Eva and Jógvan Jón, the eighth generation on the island. The island has neither roads nor a harbour, and the only transport connection is by helicopter.

On the helicopter flight out to Stóra Dímun you can enjoy the unique view over neighbouring islands such as Koltur, Hest and Sandoy.

Once you get to Dímun, you go with the farmers on a walk, where you can experience steep terrain and wild cliffs, hear about life with 500 sheep and many birds, and learn about the thousand-year-old history of the island. The highlights are the view over Suðuroy and Lítla Dímun, and the steep path Kleivin, which was once the only route to the farm.
